We are pleased to announce that we have signed an agreement with the American company Sofar Ocean Technologies Inc. for the distribution of the Spotter buoy in Spain.
The Spotter buoy is a ultra small and affordable buoy that allows a complete analysis of the wave with real time data transmission, including:
- Significant wave height
- Peak period
- Mean period
- Peak direction
- Mean direction
- Peak directional spread
- Mean directional spread
- Variance density spectrum
It also includes the measurement of surface wind, barometric pressure, and sea surface temperature. Other parameters can be integrated through its smart mooring (sea temperature, water height through a pressure sensor, and others upon consultation).
The size of a basketball and with a weight of 7.5 kg, it is easy to transport and install, and can even be airdropped for drifting applications. It is completely autonomous, solar powered, and can resist the harshest ocean conditions.
The Spotter buoys can be included in the systems designed by MSM Ocean in combination with other measurement systems (Metocean buoys or fixed offshore/onshore systems) for a solution adapted to the data requirements of each application.
